VENICE, CA — Brooklyn-based fragrance band D.S. & Durga ventured out of New York City for the very first time to open its flagship West Coast location in Venice last week.

D.S. and Durga is a unique brand, being one of the only brands with an in-house perfumer. The Venice store will include exclusive merchandise that can only be found in-store, including the brand-new Pacific Mythic candle that is described as "an East Coast kid's vision of Western waves, towering palms and blooming bushes basking in vivid Venice sunshine."

The interior of the sore uses sandy glowing tones and has materials that reference con-founder Kavi Moltz's favorite Los Angeles architects.

“Opening a store in Los Angeles is a homecoming for me as a designer. It is where I studied architecture and first experienced the work of the great California modernists - Neutra, Schindler, and especiallyLautner, whose work inspired the sculptural ceiling you will see in the store. We used the same signature materials from our New York stores but added some warm woods and sandier tones to announce our arrival in Los Angeles,” Moltz said.

The brand was founded by David and Kavi Moltz in 2008 and is lauded as the pioneer in the DIY Brooklyn movement. The brand's scents are carefully crafted narratives conceived and constructed by David.
