Fire Burns at Extra Space Storage in Venice, One Firefighter Injured

A firefighter was injured today as a major emergency structure fire ripped through a Venice storage facility.

The fire at Extra Space Storage at 658 Venice Blvd. was reported at 7:37 p.m., Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The two-story building’s metal roof was hampering vertical ventilation efforts and conditions inside were very dark and smoky, Scott said.

Over 100 firefighters were battling the blaze, and one of them suffered an unspecified injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment, he said.
The firefighter’s condition was not made available.
