Multilingual Volunteers, ‘Doors’ Mural, Mentor Wanted
Here are five things to know in and around Venice-Mar Vista today.

1. Mayor Eric Garcetti is looking for some multi-lingual volunteers, especially those who speak Korean, Armenian, Farsi, Chinese and Tagalog. Garcetti is building a crisis response team to help people deal with traumatic events ... such as a car running down people in Venice, and he wants to make sure staffers can speak all the languages of the rainbow. If you're interested and can handle a seven- week training session starting next month, send a request for an application to lacrt@lacity.org
2. A Venice mural paying homage to the Doors has hit a snag. Read this strange story on the L.A. Times.
3. 20-year-old college student and Venice resident Cody Chouinard is seeking a mentor to help launch his startup business using sustainable practices. Read his story on Venice 311.
