Today in Venice-Mar Vista: National Vegetarian Day, Help an Abused Dog, Bye Bye Broken Parking Meters

1. August 1 is National Vegetarian Day. This Patch editor is a vegetarian so I’m thrilled about this (although I guess for me every day is vegetarian day).  What are your favorite vegetarian restaurants in the area?  Tell us in the comments.

2. Effective immediately, the L.A. City Council has rescinded fines at broken parking meters. Click here for details.

3. Did you know you can find and join groups based on your interests and/or location on MeetUp.com? A quick gander at Westside area groups showed groups for hikers, singles, photographers, tennis players, salsa dancers, volunteers and even honey lovers. Is there a group for you?
