Unrelenting Rain To Resume In Venice, Mar Vista

This week's storm is expected to bring rain and possible thunderstorms to Venice and Mar Vista through Thursday, officials said.

VENICE - MAR VISTA, CA — Brief dry skies and sunny weather are coming to an end in Venice and Mar Vista starting Tuesday night as yet another rainstorm is forecasted to pour over the city.

According to the National Weather Service, this week's "vigorous storm system" traveled south from the Gulf of Alaska and will likely extend into Thursday. Forecasters also said some areas may experience possible thunderstorms.

"The colder and more unstable portion of the system comes in later Wednesday into Thursday morning. This will be more showery in nature but with higher rain rates and possible thunderstorms," the NWS said.

In Venice and Mar Vista, rain is forecasted to start on Wednesday and last into Thursday, with thunder and lightning expected to make an appearance on Thursday, according to Accuweather. During the storm, temperatures are expected to stay in the high 40's to high 50s throughout the day.

  • plan ahead, prepare for possible delays, and leave early;
  • slow down and travel at speeds that are safe for the road condition;
  • stay alert and drive defensively;
  • and utilize headlights and windshield wipers to increase visibility.

"We do always recommend when it starts raining like this to stay home," Officer Shanelle Phillips said.
