Venice Chamber Of Commerce: Students Awarded Poetry Prize And Scholarships

Beyond Baroque is thrilled to announce the winners of the inaugural Amanda Gorman Future Voices Poetry Prize and Scholarship! Created in honor of Beyond Baroque alumna and U.S. Presidential Inaugural Poet Amanda Gorman, and seeking to support young poets of color, the prize provides a total of $10,000 in scholarship and contest money to seven California-based poets.

Over 130 poets from across California applied to the prize, and winners were selected by a panel of poets and writers. Three college-bound poets will receive $3,000 each in scholarship funds. Meanwhile, four poets were selected as winners of the poetry contest for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. We want to thank every student who submitted their work, and every person who shared this opportunity within their community.

A celebratory reading featuring the winners will be held on October 1 at Beyond Baroque. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, congratulations to this year’s exceptionally talented awardees!
