Venice, Mar Vista Runners Gearing Up For LA Marathon

With the Los Angeles Marathon just 11 days away, here's everything you need to know about who's running and traffic closures.

VENICE - MAR VISTA, CA — Thousands of runners are preparing to flood the Los Angeles streets on March 19 for the 38th annual Los Angeles Marathon, promising fanfare and road closures across the city.

Runners will participate in a full marathon and charity half marathon on Sunday and a 5K race and kids race on Saturday. The 5K will take place in Elysian Park, ending with a view of Dodger Stadium.

The marathon course will start at Dodger Stadium and finish at Avenue of the Stars in Century City, running past iconic Los Angeles landmarks like Rodeo Drive, the Pantages Theater, Capitol Records, Little Tokyo, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Echo Park Lake.

The Charity Half Marathon will also start at Dodger Stadium and finish in Century City, only completing half the course distance.

The marathon will prompt road and freeway closures from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 19. The marathon route won't impact streets in Venice or Mar Vista, with the closest part of the race being in West L.A. All closures can be found at this link.

Thousands of runners have signed up to run from all over the country. There are two local Mar Vista runners and 110 local runners from Venice who signed up for the LA Marathon, who can all be tracked online using this link.
