Librarian's Message for September 2024:

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! If you love the library, we can really use your help to spread the word about all the things the Library has to offer.

Find out what's happening in Walnut Creekfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Here are some of the things you can tell your friends and family to encourage them to sign up for a library card.

  1. Library cards are free and can save you money.
  2. You can use your library card from home or on the go with your mobile device.
  3. Audiobook subscriptions are expensive. Why not give your credit card a break and pull out your library card instead. Get access to thousands of eBooks and eAudiobooks with the Libby App.
  4. Read your favorite magazines for free with Flipster or Libby. You can get access to dozens of the most popular magazines including, People, The New Yorker and Rolling Stone.
  5. Avoid all those newspaper paywalls. Use your library card to view hundreds of different newspapers including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, East Bay Times and San Francisco Chronicle.
  6. Learn a new language with Rosetta Stone or Mango Languages
  7. Research your genealogy with Ancestry and Heritage Quest.
  8. Stream independent, classic, international, critically acclaimed and documentary films with Kanopy
  9. Visit Bay Area museums, cultural destinations, zoos and science centers with Discover & Go.
