Accused Golden State Killer On Suicide Watch
Joseph James DeAngelo appeared in court Friday.

SACRAMENTO, CA -- Joseph James DeAngelo, the man accused of terrorizing California residents in a series of rapes and murders three decades ago, is on suicide watch as he awaits his court trial. USA Today reported the 72-year-old ex-cop was placed on the watch after appearing in court Friday in a wheel chair.
DeAngelo was named by authorities as the serial killer, serial rapist and prolific burglar known as the Golden State Killer, the Original Nightstalker and the East Area Rapist who terrorized California for 12 years from 1974 to 1986, sexually assaulting 51 women and killing 12 people.
"DeAngelo, who was handcuffed to his wheelchair, didn't move or show emotion as the charges and details of his suspected crimes were read against him by Judge Michael Sweet," USA Today reported.
