Officers found the suspect, identified by Walnut Creek police as Eduardo Cortes-Rodriguez, walking on Oak Grove Road in Concord. He was taken into custody and officers were able to link him to the burglary, the lieutenant said.
After further investigation, Cortes-Rodriguez, 35, of Pittsburg, was arrested on suspicion of multiple charges and booked into the Contra Costa County jail in Martinez.
At this time, the police department is still investigating other residential burglaries and it is unknown if Cortes-Rodriguez is involved in those cases.
On Monday, Walnut Creek police presented the case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office for review.
The DA's Office proceeded with the case and filed the following charges against Cortes-Rodriguez: first-degree burglary, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and grand theft of a firearm.
Cortes-Rodriguez remained in custody with his bail set at $135,000, Walnut Creek police said.
