CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA— Are you ready to party for the planet? The nonprofit organization Save Mount Diablo invites community members to grab the kids, the grandparents and their dancing shoes, Saturday, Nov. 11, and head to Creekside Commons in Lafayette.

This fun and lively benefit event supports Save Mount Diablo, a nonprofit land trust founded in 1971 with a mission to preserve Mount Diablo's peaks, surrounding foothills, watersheds and connection to the Diablo Range through land acquisition and preservation strategies.

Save Mount Diablo's house band, Blue-Eyed Grass, will open the show. (Who knew they had a house band?) Later in the evening, the Jim Ocean Band will treat the audience to a live performance of its new album, "FrankenClime"— described as a "humor-infused, danceable rock 'n roll monster mash spotlighting the environmental challenges of the times."

The night continues with a "Trashy Fashion" runway show. Guests are encouraged to join the fun by wearing their best upcycled/redesigned clothing or homemade costumes sourced from recycled materials.

Guests who like to make a trashy fashion accessory should arrive on time.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 6:45 p.m.

Don't worry about eating a full dinner beforehand, as Sustainable Contra Costa will have snacks and desserts for sale, along with beer and wine.

Guests can check out a variety of vendor products and services.

Also, plan to "bring an item, take an item" — a fun way to upcycle a like-new, no-longer-needed household item or unwanted gift and perhaps leave with a new treasure.

Admission is free for guests 18 and younger. Tickets for guests 19 and older are $20 advance purchase or $25 at the door.

Psst: Everyone who buys a ticket in advance is entered into a drawing for a special "Discover Diablo Experience" led by Save Mount Diablo Executive Director Ted Clement.

Save Mount Diablo thanked its sponsors for making the event possible and extended sincere thanks to MCE and Sustainable Walnut Creek.
