How Much Rain Did Walnut Creek Get During Atmospheric Rivers?
City Manager Dan Buckshi gave an update from the city's rainfall gauges and shared other storm statistics.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — How much rain did Walnut Creek see during the recent storm surge? Rain gauges in Rossmoor logged nearly 20 inches of rain from mid-December to mid-January, City Manager Dan Buckshi said in a recent newsletter update.
Residents heard the call to prepare, with more than 45,000 sandbags distributed, which translates into 650 cubic feet of sand. Public Works crews cleared more than 6,000 storm inlets, 176 trash capture devices and 24 trash racks throughout Walnut Creek prior to New Year's Eve, making the damage less severe, Buckshi said.
More than two dozen downed trees had to be removed from the public right of way, and more than 50 locations in the city's open space areas and trails sustained erosion and damage that limited trail access, the city manager said.
