Man Reported Missing from Walnut Creek Care Home Found Safe

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A 71-year-old man who went missing from a care home in Walnut Creek on Wednesday morning has been found safe and returned to the facility, police said today.

Yang Chang, who has memory issues but is otherwise healthy, was reported missing after last being seen at 5:30 a.m. walking away from the care home, police said. Police said shortly after 7:30 a.m. today that Chang was found safe. More details about where he was found were not immediately available.

Police had previously said Chang has a history of walking away from care homes in the past year. He was relocated to the Walnut Creek home from one in Oakland in the past week, according to police.
