Second Annual Community Service Day Is Saturday
More than 800 volunteers have already signed up to help scrub, scour and prettify Walnut Creek.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Walnut Creek will see hundreds of people in brightly colored T-shirts scrubbing the city. Rakes, shovels, paint brushes, rags and lots of elbow grease will be used on the Second Annual Community Community Service Day.
More than 800 people have already signed on to work on one of 45 projects, from tiling a giant frog sculpture at the Civic Arts Center to cleaning out the storage closets at the Lindsay Wildlife Museum.
Community Service Day begins at 7:30 a.m. with a free pancake breakfast at Heather Farm Community Center, 301 N. San Carlos Dr., courtesy of the Walnut Creek Lions clubs. At 9 a.m., volunteers will begin working on projects throughout Walnut Creek, each lasting no more than 4 hours.
