Walnut Creek City Manager Announces Key Management Appointment

The city's new director of Human Resources held previous leadership roles in three other East Bay cities, including Orinda.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — The City of Walnut Creek has a new director of Human Resources.

City Manager Dan Buckshi announced the hiring effective Monday, Jan. 23, of Trish Raver to serve in one of the city’s leadership roles, overseeing the office that manages recruitment, hiring, training, benefits, labor relations and other employee issues.

Raver comes to Walnut Creek from the City of Emeryville, where she served as director of Human Resources for the past three years. Her previous human resources leadership positions were held in Livermore and Orinda.

"This is a critical position as we look at City staffing needs with the easing of the pandemic," Buckshi said in a news release. "Trish brings the experience, leadership and vision needed to focus our human resources priorities on organizational effectiveness as well as recruitment. Walnut Creek has long been able to attract and retain talented staff, and I’m looking forward to seeing the initiatives she will bring to the table as we move forward."

Raver earned her bachelor's degree from San Diego State University in communications, with a minor in statistics, and a master’s degree in organizational development from the University of San Francisco. She holds a certification in Strategic Human Resources Leadership from Cornell University and is certified by the Society of Human Resources Management as a professional in human resources.
