Walnut Creek To Host National Night Out + Movie In The Park
Members of the Walnut Creek Police Department and other agencies will be on hand to meet with residents, and then at Civic Park for a movie.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Residents are invited to join the Walnut Creek Police Department for National Night Out this Tuesday.
The event, which will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 6 at Broadway Plaza, is a great opportunity for families and friends to meet with members of the Police Department and many other local agencies in a casual setting.
Since 1984, National Night Out has been held annually on the first Tuesday of August. To date, some 17,000 communities across the United States have signed on for the event. In California, Walnut Creek is one of 365 participating cities.

"The best way to build a safer community is to know your neighbors and your surroundings," said Kay Bailey Hutchison, a former U.S. senator. "National Night Out triumphs over a culture that isolates us from each other and allows us to rediscover our own communities."
After the event, residents are invited to head to Civic Park for a free screening of "The Sandlot" in partnership with Walnut Creek Arts + Rec's Movies Under the Stars series. Bring blankets, low chairs, food and beverages. The movie will start just after sundown near the white gazebo.
