Walnut Creek Seeks Public Input on Marijuana Options
As the City considers how, or whether, to regulate marijuana commerce and personal cultivation, leaders seek public input in two ways.

From the City of Walnut Creek: The approval of Proposition 64 legalized recreational marijuana use by those over 21. In addition, it permits cultivation of up to 6 plants per private residence, and opens the door to commercial marijuana operations such as retail sales, commercial cultivation and processing facilities.
Prop. 64 also gave local governments the ability to regulate, or outright ban, commercial marijuana operations in their community. In addition, local governments can require that personal cultivation of marijuana be an indoor-only enterprise.
As the City of Walnut Creek considers how, or whether, to regulate marijuana commerce and personal cultivation, leaders are seeking public input via two workshops and an online survey.

- 7 p.m. April 24 - Center for Community Arts auditorium (also called the Shadelands Arts Center), 111 N. Wiget Lane
- 7 p.m. April 25 - Oak View Room, Walnut Creek Library, 1644 N. Broadway
Subject matter experts from the City Attorney's Office, Walnut Creek Police and Planning will be on hand to answer questions.

The results of this public outreach will be shared with the City Council on May 16 at the regular council meeting.
The City passed a temporary moratorium blocking outdoor growth of marijuana along with commercial operations at its April 4 meeting.
