Head-On Watsonville Crash: 1 Young Man Killed, 2 Injured
The crash occurred around 2 p.m. Saturday on the State Route 129 overcrossing.
WATSONVILLE, CA — A 20-year-old Salinas man died Saturday in a head-on crash in Watsonville, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two young men from Hollister were hospitalized at Natividad Medical Center with moderate injuries, CHP said in a Monday morning statement.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m. Saturday on the State Route 129 overcrossing, just east of State Route 1, CHP said.

The 20-year-old Salinas man was driving westbound when he allowed his car to veer to the left, over the solid double yellow lines, as a 27-year-old man from Hollister and his 19-year-old passenger continued eastbound.
The Hollister driver turned left to avoid the crash as the Salinas driver swerved right. Both cars turned toward the westbound and crashed.

The Salinas man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which remained under investigation as of Monday.
CHP said it does not know whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
