2 Arrested After Argument With Girlfriend Leads To Shots Fired, Watsonville Police Say

BREAKING: Police said one of the suspects was not located and is still on the run.

WATSONVILLE, CA — Watsonville police arrested two men on Monday and are looking for another after one of them discharged a firearm after an argument with one of their girlfriends. Police arrested 27-year-old Ryan DeLanda, the boyfriend of the victim, and 32-year-old Kenneth Minnehan on Monday night.

Both were arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a stolen firearm with the serial number removed, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to Watsonville police Sgt. Ryan Fuentes. Fuentes said DeLanda was also arrested on suspicion of being a felon possessing ammunition.

A warrant request has been submitted for 37-year-old Omar DeLanda, who is believed to be the person who fired the rounds from the vehicle, Fuentes said.

Watsonville police received a call at 9:50 p.m. Monday of a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Elm Street. Officers arrived to find a victim who had been in argument with her boyfriend Ryan DeLanda and his
brother Omar.

When the DeLandas and Minnehan drove away, someone inside the vehicle, believed by police to be Omar DeLanda, fired several shots into the air.

The vehicle in which Ryan DeLanda, his brother Omar and Minnehan -- the driver -- were riding in was located by police an hour later as it was leaving the city in the vicinity of Riverside Drive and Lakeview Road in unincorporated Santa Cruz County.

Ryan DeLanda and Minnehan were arrested without incident. Omar DeLanda was not in the car when police took the other two suspects into custody. Officers found two handguns inside the car, one that had the
serial number filed off and another that had been reported previously stolen. Both Ryan DeLanda and Minnehan have been booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.
