71-Year-Old Injured in Watsonville Hit-And-Run Crash, Woman Arrested

BREAKING: Heidi Martinez, 23, is being held on $10,000 bail.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A woman was arrested in Watsonville on Wednesday afternoon after she allegedly fled from a four-car crash that injured a 71-year-old, police said. Around 4:45 p.m., police responded to the four-car crash at Airport Boulevard and Holm Road, where witnesses saw a silver Nissan fleeing west on Airport Boulevard.

Officers found a Nissan with major front-end damage at Anna Street and Holm Road, near Rolling Hills Middle School, police said. The sole occupant, 23-year-old Heidi Martinez, was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run causing injury and was transported to Santa Cruz County Jail, where she is being held on $10,000 bail.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the crash, police said. The 71-year-old victim from one of the cars was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.
