City Of Watsonville: Watsonville Police Officers Recover Teen's Stolen Bike

Fourteen-year-old Mateo is all smiles after Watsonville police officers recovered his stolen bike! 

The teen had taken all the necessary steps to safeguard his bike while at the Overlook Shopping Center on Main Street. Unfortunately, a thief still managed to cut the bike locks and ride off on the boy’s bike. As soon as Mateo realized his bicycle had been stolen, he called the police. 

Officer Bailey, one of our seasoned officers, followed up on some leads and ended up finding the stolen bike near Ramsay Park. To his surprise, a suspect was already disassembling the bike and using electrical tape to disguise it. The man claimed he bought the bike for $40 and a pack of cigarettes.

Officers ended up arresting the suspect for possession of stolen property, drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine.
