Many will be hitting the road soon and the Watsonville Police Department is reminding drivers and passengers the importance of wearing a seatbelt, slowing down, and simply following the rules of the road.
“It’s all of our responsibility to make sure we get home safe at the end of the day or get to our destination safely,” said Watsonville Police Officer Bobby Rodriguez.

This holiday season, the Watsonville Police Department will be deploying additional officers who will focus specifically on finding drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“DUI is 100% preventable,” said Rodriguez. “We can either call a family member, a friend, or a sober driver to get us from point A to point B. There is also rideshare that we can utilize.”
The department will also be holding a driver’s license and DUI checkpoint. They will be releasing additional information as the date approaches.
