Click It Or Ticket Campaign Launches Monday

Officers are on the lookout.

WATSONVILLE, CA — Monday marked the start of this year's Click it or Ticket campaign throughout the country and Watsonville police are joining the effort.

"We cannot stress enough how important it is to always buckle up," the police department said.

The campaign goes through June 5.

"During this time, our officers will be actively looking for drivers & passengers who are not wearing seat belts," the Watsonville police department said.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports there was a 90% seat belt use rate nationally in 2021, a seven percent increase from 2007.

In 2020, 10,893 passengers who weren't wearing seatbelts were killed in crashes in the United States, NHTSA reports.
