Company Ordered To Pay More Than $12K In Fines In Unlawful Business Practices Case

A woman notified the Monterey County DA's office after she was repeatedly called although she was registered on the Do Not Call Registry.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — A San Francisco business owner was fined more than $12,000 after settling with the Monterey County District Attorney's Office over unlawful business practices.

Prosecutors said Jonathan Hyslop, owner of Nectarpoint Inc. was ordered to pay a total $12,500 in civil penalties and costs after his company was found making unlawful solicitation phone calls to numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry.

The company, which does business under the name Nexus Executive Academy or NEA, called one woman several times from the same number even after she told them she was registered on the Do Not Call Registry.
She then told the District Attorney's office, which launched an investigation.

The defendants cooperated with the investigation, and a permanent injunction was placed on the company and its owner in addition to the fines.
