Coroner IDs Watsonville Pedestrian Killed In Downtown Crash
A woman in the crosswalk was fatally struck by a truck Friday, police said.

WATSONVILLE, CA — The Santa Cruz County Coroner has identified the pedestrian fatally struck by a car Friday in downtown Watsonville.
Joan Alameda, 61, of Watsonville was struck in the crosswalk at Rodriguez and Beach streets around 3:15 p.m., according to police and sheriff's office spokesperson Ashley Keehn. She was struck by a Ford F-250 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The area was temporarily closed and reopened around 9 p.m. The driver of the truck was cooperating with the investigation, police said Friday.
