CORRALITOS, CA — Firefighters made progress in containing the Estrada fire Monday, though rain Sunday night made no impact on containment come daybreak.

"Firefighters continue to mop up and strengthen control lines along with suppression repair work," Cal Fire said.

The fire sparked Friday afternoon during a controlled burn organized by the Cal Fire San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit.
Officials planned to burn about 20 acres on Estrada Ranch near the intersection of Hazel Dell and Hidden Canyon roads, but the blaze jumped control lines about an hour before firefighters planned to wrap up the prescribed burn. Firefighters worked through the weekend to battle back the flames and bolster containment lines.
