Fatal Crash Forces Shutdown Of Highway 1: CHP
The crash happened shortly before midnight Sunday.
MONTEREY COUNTY — At least one person is dead after a three-vehicle collision late Sunday night along state Route 1 just outside Castroville in Monterey County, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.
The crash, first reported at 11:48 p.m. Sunday, happened along state Route 1, near where the road meets state Route 183 in Castroville in Monterey County. Aside from the lone confirmed fatality, it was not immediately clear whether other people were injured in the collision.
Shortly after 12 a.m. Monday, state Route 1 had to be shut down in the wake of the accident, with southbound traffic being diverted into state Route 183, the CHP said.
