Fatal Crash Friday In Santa Cruz County

The crash was discovered around 9:30 a.m. Friday after a car crashed into a fence and tree.

WATSONVILLE, CA — The California Highway Patrol is at the scene Friday morning of a fatal crash near Watsonville, where a car reportedly went through a fence and knocked over a tree.

The solo-car crash was reported about 9:30 a.m., but may have happened earlier in the morning, the CHP said.

A man driving a two-door sedan was headed southbound on Amesti Road when the vehicle crashed near Alaga Lane, the CHP said.

The collision is under investigation. The victim's name has not been released, pending notification of family.
