Head-On Crash Near Watsonville Kills One

Police said three cars were involved in the crash.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A 57-year-old Gilroy woman is dead after a head-on collision on SR-129 west of Old Chittenden Road near Watsonville, police said.

The crash happened Wednesday around 4:18 p.m. A Honda Odyssey was traveling westbound on SR-129 and a Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound when the two collided head-on.

Following the crash, an Acura Integra traveling westbound on SR-129 collided with the Honda.
As a result of this collision, the driver of the Nissan died on the scene, police said.

The other two drivers both went to the hospital. The driver of the Honda is reported to have major injuries. The driver of the Acura is reported to have moderate injuries.

It’s unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Police ask anyone who witnessed it to call Officer J. Jimenez at the CHP Santa Cruz Area Office at (831) 662-0511.
