BREAKING: The money given to the Watsonville-based Salud Para La Gente will be used to give health care to vulnerable residents.

WATSONVILLE, CA — Separate health clinics serving residents of Monterey and Santa Cruz counties received federal grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration, a congressman's office said Friday. Watsonville-based Salud Para La Gente received $2,277,358 and Salinas-based Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas received $3,772,671, the office of Rep. Jimmy Panetta, D-Carmel Valley, said.

The money will be used to provide continued access to comprehensive and culturally competent primary health care to communities and vulnerable residents. Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas serves families of farm workers and the agricultural community.

The grant money comes through the HRSA's Health Center Cluster grant program, which distributes Affordable Care Act money to health clinics across the U.S.
