Kristal Salcido Announces Run For Watsonville City Council

Salcido, an assistant district attorney who serves on many local boards and committees, is running to represent Watsonville's 4th District.

WATSONVILLE, CA — Kristal Salcido, assistant district attorney for Santa Cruz County, announced Friday that she will run to represent Watsonville’s 4th District in the fall, The Pajaronian and Santa Cruz Sentinel report.

Salcido, 36, is running to fill the seat of Councilmember Francisco “Paco” Estrado, who announced Thursday that he will not seek re-election in November.

A resident of Watsonville since 2015, Salcido is the first new candidate to throw her hat in the ring for 2022. She serves on the city’s Personnel Commission, redistricting committee, and the Ad-Hoc Committee on Policing and Social Equity. She also serves on the Watsonville Rotary Club, and on the board of directors for Encompass Community Services.

“I look forward to being an advocate for Watsonville residents, and I believe it is a great privilege and honor to serve the residents of our community,” Salcido said in a statement.

Salcido said in her announcement that she has been endorsed by City Council members Jimmy Dutra, Eduardo Montesino, Lowell Hurst, and Mayor Ari Parker.
