BREAKING: The county warns that contact with water contaminated with sewage may cause people to suffer from gastroenteritis.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — Monterey County has closed MacAbee Beach in Monterey after the city reported that sewage had spilled into the bay earlier this week. A statement from the county's Environmental Health Bureau said that the beach closed Tuesday morning and will remain closed until samples indicate that the water is safe for people to enter.
The county warns that contact with water contaminated with sewage may cause people to suffer from gastroenteritis and other water-borne illnesses.
