Man Arrested After Stabbing At Popular Monterey Bay Attraction

Police say Daniel Hardin stabbed a man, who was hospitalized with injuries that were not life threatening.

PACIFIC GROVE, CA — Police arrested a suspect said to be involved in a Pacific Grove Recreation Trail stabbing fewer than 24 hours after the incident, the Pacific Grove Police Department said on Tuesday.

On Monday evening at 6:05 p.m., police responded to a reported stabbing on the trail near the American Tin Cannery. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, according to police reports.

At 3:55 p.m. on Tuesday, police conducted an arrest warrant to take 29-year-old Daniel Hardin into custody without incident. He was arrested and booked at the Monterey County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.

Police said the suspect's motivation is unknown at this time, as the victim and suspect are said to not know one another.

"We understand these calls for service create concern for our community members. This is a great example of law enforcement and the community working together," reads the police department's press release.
