Watsonville Pharmacy Robbery Suspect Arrested

BREAKING: Michael Cervantes, 28, is accused of walking into the pharmacy and ordering the employees to lie down on the floor.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A Watsonville man was arrested on Monday afternoon after allegedly robbing a pharmacy of prescription pain medication, police said. Michael Cervantes, 28, is accused of walking into Valle Verde Pharmacy at 240 Green Valley Road, near Corralitos Creek in Watsonville, and ordering the employees to lie down on the floor.

Cervantes then ordered one of the employees to load his bag with prescription pain medication and then left, police said. Police followed Cervantes' vehicle to Orange Blossom Way and saw him walking into a home.
Officers with the Watsonville police special response unit secured the area and Santa Cruz police sent in an armored vehicle to approach the home and order Cervantes out of the home.

Cervantes walked out shortly afterward and was arrested on suspicion of robbery. Police recovered evidence and allegedly stolen property from inside his home.
