Man Convicted Of Sexual Assault Of Child Sentenced To Prison
BREAKING: Prosecutors said Peter Moore, 25, sexually assaulted a 13-year-old Monterey County girl in 2015.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — A Marina man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child, Monterey County District Attorney Dean Flippo announced Thursday. Peter Moore, 25, was sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for one count of forcible lewd act upon a child and a consecutive four-year term for two additional counts of non-forcible lewd acts on a child, prosecutors said.
Moore has a previous conviction for first-degree burglary, so his total sentence was doubled to 18 years, prosecutors said. Moore will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and was ordered not to have contact with the victim.
On Dec. 8, 2015, Moore sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl who was a family member of his girlfriend, prosecutors said. The sexual assault occurred in the early morning hours at a family home, prosecutors said.
The victim reported the assault later that day at school, and a school official called the Marina Police Department.
