Man Nabbed After Watsonville Firehouse Burglary
When firefighters returned to Fire Station 1 from a call, they saw a suspicious man outside the building. Inside, they'd been burglarized.

WATSONVILLE - Police have arrested a man in connection with a burglary that occurred Monday night at a Watsonville fire station.
Police say 42-year-old Francisco Gonzales was seen allegedly tampering with an AT&T utility box around 11:59 p.m. in the 100 block of Second Street, near Watsonville Fire Station 1.
Firefighters had responded to an unrelated medical call for service, and upon returning to the firehouse they observed Gonzalez walking away from the station.

According to police, firefighters checked the station and discovered that someone had ransacked the property, before calling police and giving them a description of Gonzalez.
Officers responded and located Gonzalez two blocks from the station, wearing what appeared to be items allegedly stolen from the fire station including utility overalls, gloves and shoes, police said.

Gonzalez was arrested on suspicion of burglary and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.
