Map: Watsonville Unemployment Increases December to January

The unemployment rate in Watsonville in January increased from December's mark of 22.9 percent up to 25.9 percent, according to preliminary data released by the state last Friday.
Compared to the rest of the state, Watsonville's unemployment rate is well above average. The state of California as a whole also saw a slight increase to 10.4 percent from 10.3 percent in December.
Other parts of southern Santa Cruz County saw similar increases, like Freedom (19.6 percent to 22.3 percent), and Amesti (19.7 percent to 22.4 percent).
