A woman driving on nothing but her car rims was arrested for alleged drunk driving Friday night during a Marina police DUI Saturation Patrol

MARINA - A woman driving on nothing but her car rims was arrested for alleged drunk driving Friday night during a Marina police DUI Saturation Patrol.

According to Marina police, a vehicle without tail lamps was seen exiting Highway 1 onto Imjin Parkway.

A Marina police officer initiated a traffic stop, and discovered what appeared to be fresh damage to the passenger side of the vehicle, according to authorities.

Police say it was obvious to the officer that the driver had collided into something, which also caused both front tires to blow out.

The stopped vehicle was being driven on its rims.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, Yvonne Martinez of Salinas, was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

Marina police arrested Martinez for DUI.

The Marina Police Department Traffic Bureau conducted the DUI Saturation Patrol on Friday, May 20th, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.

That night, they report the following activity:

  • 9 - Vehicle enforcement stops
  • 2 - DUI-Alcohol suspects arrested
  • 1 - Citation issued

Marina PD says it will be conducting another DUI Saturation Patrol on Friday June 10th, 2016 in the Department’s ongoing commitment to lowering deaths and injuries upon the city’s streets and highways.
