Motorcycle Rider Killed In Monterey Co. Crash Earlier This Month Identified
CHP officials said the Monterey man was wearing a helmet, but died at the scene.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — A man killed in a traffic collision while riding his motorcycle in unincorporated Monterey County earlier this month has been identified as James Andrew Smith, according to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office. Smith, a 51-year-old Monterey man, was trying to pass a vehicle on River Road on Aug. 5 when he crashed into another vehicle backing out of a driveway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision between Smith's 2015 Harley-Davidson Sportster and a 2000 Honda Accord was reported at 10:51 a.m. CHP officials said Smith was wearing a helmet, but died at the scene.
