Police Arrest Watsonville Man For Allegedly Brandishing Firearm
BREAKING: Officers also arrested a 17-year-old male juvenile for allegedly being in possession of ammunition.
WATSONVILLE, CA — A man who brandished a firearm at a group of people in Watsonville earlier this month was located and arrested Monday, according to police. In the early morning hours of Feb. 5, officers responded to a report of someone brandishing a firearm on Jared Way. At the scene, officers learned that the suspect, who fled the scene, pointed an assault-type rife at a group of victims in the driveway of a home, but did not fire any shots, police said.
An investigation led authorities to obtain a search warrant for two residences, as well as an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Ramon Ruiz of Watsonville, for allegedly brandishing the firearm and unlawfully possessing
a firearm due to a prior conviction.
On Monday at about 7 a.m., officers served the warrants at both residences and arrested Ruiz at his home. During the arrest, a firearm was found and seized by officers. It is not believed to be the firearm used in
the brandishing incident. Ruiz was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail, police said.
