Police Name Suspect Shot By Watsonville Officer
Police said the Red Bluff man was allegedly attempting to stab a family member.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A 22-year-old suspect was shot and injured by a police officer Wednesday morning, Watsonville police said. The shooting happened on Main Street between Clifford Drive and Ohlone Parkway at about 10 a.m.
Police said officers responded to the area of Ninth Street after receiving 911 calls about a man with two knives.
The man, identified as Isaias Aguilar of Red Bluff, was allegedly attempting to stab a family member. Officers arrived and did not find Aguilar who allegedly left the area with large kitchen knives.
Police said they were told by Aguilar's family that he may be under the influence of drugs and was hallucinating. Police said officers found Aguilar less than 30 minutes later in the area of Clifford Drive and Ohlone Parkway after some people called 911 to say a man was throwing rocks at vehicles.

Officers allegedly found Aguilar running in and out of traffic on Main Street, acting erratically, and he allegedly did not listen to officers' orders. Police said Aguilar charged at Officer Matt Williams with two
knives and Williams shot Aguilar as Aguilar closed in.
Aguilar allegedly continued to be uncooperative as officers provided medical aid. Aguilar was taken to a hospital where he is in stable condition.

No officers were injured. Williams has been placed on paid administrative leave according to police procedures. Police said Williams has been an officer since 2016.
