Eddie Martinez-Perez, 27, will be sentenced on Jan. 25 to a maximum six-year prison sentence after his plea to the charge, prosecutors said.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — A Salinas man pleaded guilty to one count of child molestation on Tuesday, according to the Monterey County District Attorney's Office. Eddie Martinez-Perez, 27, will be sentenced on Jan. 25 to a maximum six-year prison sentence after his plea to the charge, prosecutors said.

Martinez-Perez sexually molested a 10-year-old family member two years ago. The victim said she woke up in the middle of the night to Martinez-Perez lying next to her and molesting her in her bed. The victim's
mother wasn't home at the time and Martinez-Perez was watching her, prosecutors said.

According to the district attorney's office, Martinez-Perez will have to register as a sex offender and the conviction counts as a strike under California's Three Strikes Law. The conviction is also a violent felony
that requires him to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before being released.
