See Watsonville Police Wearing Pink Patches? Here's Why

WATSONVILLE, CA — Notice pink patches bedecking Watsonville police uniforms? The Watsonville Police Department is in the midst of its fourth consecutive Pink Patch Project campaign to raise money to benefit local families touched by breast cancer.

The department has raised almost $50,000 for the Bennett & Suzy Katz Cancer Resource Center at Dominican Hospital. Residents can swing by the police department at 215 Union St. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Thursday to donate to the cause by purchasing gear such as T-shirts and beanies.

Last year police raised $13,700 to benefit Katz Center patients who can't afford the cost of breast cancer treatment and services. A Watsonville police cruiser even got a free pink makeover for the occasion.
