1 Killed, 2 Injured In Watsonville Rollover Crash

State Route 129 was shut down in both directions during Monday morning's commute after a fatal crash, according to CHP.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A Marina man died and two Aromas men were injured after a crash near Watsonville that shut down State Route 129 in both directions during the Monday morning commute.

A 50-year-old Aromas man in a Toyota Tacoma and a 30-year-old Aromas man in a Ford F-650 pulling a utility trailer were heading westbound on Riverside Drive when they crashed and both cars overturned around 6:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol's Santa Cruz branch said in a statement.

The utility trailer dislodged, turned over and veered into the eastbound lane, where the trailer struck a 59-year-old Marina man driving in that lane, CHP said. He died from his injuries.

CHP issued a Sig-alert and closed Riverside Drive from Walker Street to Harvest Drive in both directions. The coroner was called to the scene around 7:30 a.m., dispatch records show.
