WATSONVILLE, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Angie Peterson who nominated Alyssandra, a 7th grade student of Watsonville.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Alyssandra is a rising star because she is the definition of Scholar Student Athlete. She works diligently in her academics as well as being an ultimate team player. Aly is goal driven, disciplined, self-reliant, inspiring, confident and always initiates action. She stands up for people she loves and causes that matter to her. Aly has played soccer from the age of 4. She competes at one of the highest levels in the state and helped her team (Pajaro Valley United U13) go to the finals in State Cup. She participates in school sports as well; Cross county, Volleyball and Softball. Aly does this all while maintaining a 3.7 GPA. She makes her family and friends so proud. We are excited to see what she contributes to this world — and to top it off she's a Jesus lover.
