Watsonville Boy To Be Honored As A Hero
17-year-old Zac Clayman will receive a Citizen Commendation after he assisted in saving the life of a crash victim on Larkin Valley Road.

WATSONVILLE - A Watsonville teen is being honored this week after quick thinking saved a man’s life in December.
The Santa Cruz California Highway Patrol and the Aptos Fire Department will present 17-year-old Zac Clayman with a Citizen Commendation in a ceremony Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
The ceremony, which takes place at 10395 Soquel Dr. in Aptos, will honor Clayman after he assisted in saving the life of a crash victim, according the CHP office.

CHP officials said on Dec. 5 Clayman was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his aunt traveling on Larkin Valley Road in the area of White Road when he noticed a white object off the side of the road down a steep embankment.
According to CHP officials, Clayman signaled his aunt to pull over so he could check it out and upon further investigation found a white truck that had collided with a tree, with a male victim still inside.

CHP officials said Clayman notified his aunt to contact emergency personnel and found out the victim had been in the truck overnight.
Emergency personnel arrived and were able to extract the victim and provide aid.
