Watsonville Caminos Program Allows Juveniles To Clean Up Their Tags
Juveniles in Watsonville caught tagging for the first time cleaned up building walls containing their messages on Saturday.
WATSONVILLE - Juveniles in Watsonville caught tagging for the first time cleaned up building walls containing their messages on Saturday in an event coordinated by the Watsonville Police Department.
According to a Facebook posting, Saturday was the first Caminos Cleanup Event, in which juvenile offenders caught tagging or in possession of vandalism tools "took responsibility for cleaning up several locations within the city."
The police Caminos Program is a juvenile diversion program for first-time offenders in the City of Watsonville.

According to the posting, the juveniles also wrote statements of apology in which they discussed what they learned from the experience.
Police say the event will occur quarterly with about five or six juvenile participants.
