Watsonville Parking Lot Shooting: Man Injured, Taken To Hospital

Police said at least one suspect was seen fleeing the area on foot.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A 19-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting in Watsonville on Monday evening, according to police. Officers responded at 6:24 p.m. to a report of shots fired in the rear parking lot of La Princesa Market at 1260 Main St., then arrived to find the victim lying on the ground with a gunshot wound, police said.

Officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived. The victim was taken to Watsonville Community Hospital and then flown to a Bay Area trauma center, according to police. He was in stable but critical condition as of late Monday night, police said.

At least one suspect was seen fleeing on foot on Pennsylvania Drive toward Hammer Drive and a dark-colored SUV was also seen fleeing in the same direction, police said. No arrest has been made in the case and no other
suspect information was immediately available.
