Watsonville PD Welcomes New Downtown Officer

Officer Juan Bribiesca has been assigned to the Special Investigations Unit and will work predominately in the downtown area of Watsonville.

From Watsonville PD: The Watsonville Police Department is proud to announce that Officer Juan Bribiesca is the new downtown officer. Officer Bribiesca is assigned to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU). He will provide community oriented, proactive police enforcement efforts focused in the downtown area.

Some of Officer Bribiesca’s goals are to develop a strong working relationship with other city departments; community based organizations, the downtown library and businesses and property owners.

Officer Bribiesca will be visible and available to the downtown community and may work on foot or on a bicycle. His assignment will require that he not respond to regular calls for police service. Rather, Officer Bribiesca will focus on long term quality of life projects requiring specialized attention.

The downtown problems will be identified by the voice of the community, business owners and Officer Bribiesca. In an effort to eradicate and interrupt criminal behavior; he will have the ability to utilize other department resources such as the CARE unit, Special Investigations Unit (SIU), the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team, the Auto Theft Task Force and the WPD Investigations bureau. Officer Bribiesca will also be available for educational police workshops in the downtown region.
