Watsonville Woman Dies After Run On Zmudowski Beach

MOSS LANDING - A 36-year-old Watsonville woman died Monday after a run on the beach at Zmudowski State Beach north of Moss Landing.

According to the Santa Cruz Sentinel, Maria Guadalupe Ayala was found unconscious by a bystander about 5:20 p.m.

Monterey County Sheriff’s Cmdr. John Thornburg told the Sentinel that despite efforts by deputies, State Parks rangers and paramedics, Ayala died at the scene.

An autopsy is expected Wednesday to determine her cause of death.
